The Longest Walk 4 Return to Alcatraz began with a Sunrise Ceremony in DC on July 15, 2013. The walkers are currently in Indiana, nearing the Illinois border.
Update from Long Walkers:
Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013: We would like to thank the American Indian Movement Indiana-Kentucky for their support, and the generous people at the AIC Lebanon Pow Wow that we attended today. Tomorrow we get back on schedule, going to Brazil, Indiana from Plainfield. We would also like to acknowledge the various original Nations of this area now called Indianapolis, including the Miami, Wea, Pienkeshaw, Delaware and Shawnee.

Today we completed 32 miles after a late start. We are about 13 miles short of Brazil, Indiana but should be caught up by tomorrow. We will be staying another night near Brazil and than two nights in Terre Haute on the 20th and 21st. At present we have no contacts for eastern and central Illinois so would appreciate anyone that knows of parks or those with land we might stay at to please contact us and let us know. We will be talking to Lincoln Trails State Park near Marshall and mainly need assistance for the Effingham or Vandalia area. Thank you.

Share the love, a meal, some cold water, food supplies, a camping spot, or gas card for the supply vehicles! (OK, and just because they are such great people, maybe a real bed to sleep on once in a while!)-- Brenda, Censored News)
